Language, Literacy and Music

Our Language, Literature and Music Classroom is a child/teacher interactive environment in which children learn through oral and written communication to master language. Language develops in an environment where children have experiences they want to talk about, and when they have a responsive partner engaging in the dialogue.  These interactions with people and materials set the stage for children to construct an understanding of talking, reading and writing.

Children and teachers enjoy working with puppets, flannel stories, writing materials and props to converse with their friends and teachers.  This classroom also supports the role of our Dramatic Play and Socialization classroom.

Music & Movement is a big part of our Language classroom.  Young children relate music and body movement naturally, finding it impossible to sing without engaging in some physical activity.  Our teachers interact with the children using bean bags, rhythm sticks and various musical instruments so children are able to develop
an appreciation for music and become active music makers.
