Dramatic Play and Socialization

Make-believe and pretending to be a mom, a baby lion, a robot, a princess is another way young children represent what they know about people, animals, and situations.  Through their play they act out the mental images they have formed of common human events such as eating, sleeping, working, shopping, moving, and having birthdays.  Pretend play tends to be fluid and flexible, and children often engage in complex dialogue, making up the script as the go.

Our Dramatic play and Socialization classroom is designed to support the role of play and pretending.  Using planned monthly themes, our teachers provide time and support for children to explore and discover with various life size materials.  The children can go on a picnic, take a baby for a walk, build a garage or go on a boat ride.
