Marty Sunderland was born in Chicago, but moved to California and attended school here.  Later, she lived in a small town (population about 500) in southwestern Washington State, and received her bachelor’s degree in accounting from Portland State University in Portland, Oregon. She completed her multiple subject credential course work at Chapman University in August 2003.  She has taught in both second- and third- grade classrooms, and has taught drama for 2 years in a program for first through fourth grade.  She and her family live in Antioch and attend St. Ignatius Church. She has three grandchildren and a hamster named Lilly.  She enjoys travel, reading, and gardening and is a private pilot.
