Mrs. Seawell was born in Albany, California. She lived in the Midwest for junior high and 1-2 years of high school, but moved to Concord after high school and has lived here since then. She operated her own dance studio “to put herself through college.” She earned her bachelor's degree in education from California State University, Hayward. Mrs. Seawell has taught in both public and Christian schools. In 1986, she came to King’s Valley, where she has taught various grades. Teaching 4th grade has been especially interesting for her because of her interest in California History. She has units toward a degree in Bible from Shiloh Bible College in Oakland and is an ordained minister.  She attends Full Gospel Church International, in Concord. She is married with 2 children and 6 grandchildren.
