Marti Maple is a Bay Area
native. She spent ten years in Los Angeles, where she studied
communication studies at UCLA and business at the University of Southern
California’s Marshall School of Business. She completed her
multiple subject teaching credential at the Concord campus of Chapman
University in June of 2003, concurrent with teaching second grade at King’s
Valley Christian School. Before going into teaching, Mrs. Maple had spent over twelve years as a blood
bank community relations and
recruitment supervisor. She has worked as both a short-term and
long-term substitute teacher in the Mt. Diablo Unified School District and
taught kindergarten at the district’s Summer Intervention Program. Through a church-sponsored program, she served as a reading tutor.
She and her husband, Denny, are members of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church,
in Lafayette, and serve on several boards, including for missions,
fellowship, and youth. Twin sons, Matthew and Michael Dahlquist, are away at
CSU,
Chico,
and UC, Berkeley, respectively. All family members are avid San
Francisco Giants and Cal Bear fans.
